Tammy's Blog- On Gratitude
It has been my intention since the very beginning to
show my community how much I love them, and the honor I feel to be part of it. Today, a little more than six months later,
I can truly say my heart is overflowing! Your willingness to share the joy and wisdom of your children and their
lives makes me the most blessed lady in Nashville. I have been witness to so many beautiful and touching moments that I find
myself hopeful for our future. Your children, as well as my own, help me to see a future of promise and renewed
faith in the course ahead. It is my great joy and passion to promise to continue expanding and improving the space and experiences
that support their creative development. I know that these children have unique abilities that inspire us all to use creativity
and play to realize a better world. I have often heard people say "I love your store", and I feel it
is important to give thanks to those people who make it what it is. First, a big thank you goes out to my husband, who
has given me such unwavering support, in addition to all of the time, business knowledge, energy and sweat that is a very
big part of making Fairytales what it is. I want to thank Melissa for introducing me to the excitement and value of becoming
a bookseller, Her experience and personal knowledge of great literature has made us into the premier children’s'
bookstore in Nashville. She has the kind of sharp wit and a playful sense of humor that adds so much to the daily
planning and doing of activities at Fairytales. Her input has helped us offer some really unique and fun story times and
birthday parties. Seeing her with the kids continues to validate my choice in making her a part of this team. Katie has been
with us for a couple of months now, and I have been grateful to have someone on staff that has such a great work ethic.
She is always willing to use her talents, which there are many, to make the experience at Fairytales a positive one.
As many of you already know, our Shantel has been blessed with the adventure of a lifetime. A few weeks ago, her husband,
Tim, was offered the job of his dreams in Hawaii. It is beyond the power of words to describe what her work at Fairytales
has meant to all of us. It is rare in life to meet and know someone like Shantel, who is so willing to show and share so much
love to others. Thank you Shantel, for opening your big ol' heart and loving us all with such joy and compassion.
We wish you all the best on your new adventure in life. Know that as you go you will take a piece of us with you, but what
you have left behind is forever infused with the love you gave. I have personally learned so much from you and found abilities
I didn't even know I had. Please feel free to join us on Monday, April 6th, from 3:30-5:00 for a lu'au and Aloha in
Shantel's honor. In closing today I would just like to say that I know many people are facing challenges
in their daily lives, and I believe the answer to it all is becoming aware of what you can offer. Sometimes it really is the
littlest thing that can make a difference. Choosing to become an active member of your community doesn't have to involve
meetings, organizations, or even blogs. Sometimes it is just a conversation with someone in the grocery store, or picking
up your neighbor's kid from school for them. Remember it’s all about the little things. Here's looking forward
to many more days at the neighborhood store!
